1. Fashion and design is at its best because it is our number one course from which we derive our precious name. We have been at it since 1978, giving us vast experience in this lucrative, yet immense field that is versatile.

We train at:

Non formal level,

where the trainee could have missed basic education or wishes to acquire a specific competence within a short period. This level is assessed and certified by the Directorate of industrial training (DIT).

National Diploma in Fashion and Garment Design ,

Is better felt at Sogavi-Kumi. All the graduates at this level have got employment near and far. We shall soon publish their list and contacts so that they can speak for themselves. With our state-of- the- art equipment besides our passion, training at this level is propelling the Ugandan fashion-related occupations to unprecedented heights! To enroll, one should have any of the following qualifications:

a) National certificate in fashion and garment design or

b) Advanced Craft Certificate in Tailoring and Garment Cutting

c) National certificate in painting and decorating

d) National certificate in shoe making and leather tannery

e) National certificate in interior design

f) Certificate in Ceramics

g) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)

h) A pass diploma in any field from a recognized institution

i) A bachelors’ degree in any field from a recognized institution

UCPC (Uganda Community Polytechnic Certificate)

Assessed and certified by Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB). The trainees in this category should have passed primary leaving examination (PLE) and they are trainable in a period of three years. Recently, the training at this level has been modularized such that a trainee can have free ‘entry and free exit’ which has made the training more flexible; they are assessed and certified after every module. The choice to continue or to exit after a module depends on interest, affordability and employability. It implies that school drop outs should become something of the past; all attempting this level of training should become school leavers.

National Certificate

Is attained after attending modular training for two years, having enrolled after acquiring a minimum of three passes at UCE. This too is assessed and certified by UBTEB. Free ‘entry and free exit’ applies.
